Mowani Mountain Camp

Lying in the heart of Damaraland and between the Ugab and Huab rivers is Mowani Mountain Camp. It is nestled among rugged boulder, between beautiful, unspoilt wilderness and unsurpassed desert scenery, unusual geological formations, archaeological sites and a unique variety of flora and fauna.

The location provides unsurpassed views over the pristine surroundings, creating an impression of an African village, with dome-like thatched structures that blend in with the imposing boulders which are scattered around the outcrops. Mowani is taken from the Swahili word M'Wane, meaning "Place of God", and it is here, that you will find the true meaning of peace and tranquillity.

The main complex at Mowani consists of a reception, bar, dining room and a lounge which overlooks the waterhole. Accommodation is in 12 luxury East-African-style en-suite safari tents which are spread around the mountain crest. The tents are built on raised wooden platforms, each with its own private veranda and great views of the Aba-Huab Valley.

Activities include guided nature walks, excursions to Twyfelfontein rock engravings, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes, elephant/nature drives, hot air ballooning, micro lighting and scenic flights.
