Kulala Desert Lodge
The Kulala Desert Lodge is situated on a 21,000 hectare private property, bordering the Namib Naukluft Park and surrounded by red dunes and open plains.
The main area is built in a style resembling North African style, and has been built entirely from clay bricks and thatch. The area consists of a lounge, pub and dining area, with a wrap-around veranda overlooking a waterhole and surrounding desert plains, offering splendid views of the Sossusvlei dunes.
On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, this is not a game rich area, however, whatever game we see is interesting and dramatised by the contrast between the Namib Desert and animals like Springbok, Gemsbok (Oryx) and Ostrich who manage to survive in these harsh conditions. A range of activities are offered, allowing you to explore the surrounding desert. In the early mornings, guided trips to the Sossusvlei red dunes will give you a unique desert experience.
